Traditional Kitchen

Traditional kitchens are those that take their inspiration from the long established traditions of kitchen design. These design elements can be thought of as time honored or classic. Traditional kitchen designs pull beautiful and elegant features from American and European homes of the 18th and 19th century to the early decades of the 20th century. Influences of this design style include Victorian, Edwardian, Georgian, Federal, Regency, Italianate, Early American and Neoclassical eras. Traditional design style takes us back to our roots and is rich in history, it is classic, often is formal and it is always in style. Comfort and grandeur are often associated with this styling.

Characteristic features of traditional kitchens include: Ornate moldings and trims. Cabinets are often displayed in Cherry, Walnut, Mahogany or other wood species that have distinct grain characteristics. Hardware may be displayed in bronze, oil rubbed bronze or a weathered finish. Antique Finishes are fitting in this design category. Antique styled appliances and fixtures are sometimes preferred depending on how traditional the design may be. Farm and apron style sinks yield to the traditional look and give larger spaces for cleanup in the kitchen. Fire clay is a popular option and usually more durable than others in apron style sinks.

Home furnishings ranging from 18th century British Colonial revival to 19th century French country accompany the traditional style. Traditional decor palette for wall colorings, fabrics and furniture include: Peach and green tones accented with eggplant and tan for an organic and understated look. Of course you will customize your own color palette to your liking. Still-life oil paintings, metallic candle stick holders, a flower arrangement displayed in a decorative vase, crystal chandeliers and decorative tableware are all accents that accompany the charming and warm atmosphere of traditional design style.
